On Friday, January 13, 2023, an online kick-off meeting was held in the framework of the program “METRO 16 COOPERATION Action 2: “Implementation of the Operational Plan (project) of the ESK Operational Groups for the productivity and sustainability of agriculture” entitled “Systems Education – Mavrodafni and acronym TRAINGRAPE with project code M16ΣΟΝ2-00201”. The project is co-financed by the European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development “EGTAA”. coordinated by Winery – Distillery KAVINO S.A. and co-operating bodies the Agricultural University of Athens, the companies Panas P.-Klaudatos A.O., Dymaion Ampelos IKE and the grape growers Georgios Veskoukis, Konstantinos Veskoukis, Athanasopoulos Apostolos and Kanellopoulos Antonios in collaboration with the PDE of Western Greece The project has a budget of €145,000 and a deadline of 31.08.2025. The Traingrape project introduces innovative practices and new methodology in viticulture with the aim of enhancing the quality and yield of indigenous wine grape varieties modeled on Mavrodaphni. It is about addressing the challenge faced by Greek winegrowers in relation to the limited yield of local grapevine products such as Mavrodaphni through the application of new cultivation practices and processes that can lead to an increase in the yield of their grapevine products while enhancing their quality characteristics. The object of the opening meeting was the mutual information of the partners regarding the planning of the actions and deliverables of the project, especially those that are to be implemented in the immediate future.
